About Us
History
Pajaro Valley Fire Protection District was created in 1994 through a LAFCO recommended consolidation of two separate fire districts: Salsipuedes Fire Protection District and Freedom Fire Protection District. The district operated for three years on its own, and in 1997 entered into a co-operative agreement with Cal Fire for its administrative and staffing needs.
Contract For Service
The Pajaro Valley Fire Protection District contracts with the Watsonville Fire Department to provide emergency services in what is known as the former Freedom Fire District.
Staffing
Pajaro Valley Fire Protection District is a full-time paid department funded and staffed with 8 personnel including one Battalion Chief, three Captains, three Engineers, and one Fire Marshal.
The Fire Engine staffing consists of two personnel every day, all year and provides the community with Basic Life Support emergency medical services, supplemented by Paramedics from AMR (outside private ALS provider).
